How will our coaching partnership work?

A one-time coaching session can be powerful, but the true benefit of coaching comes with time and relationship. As our partnership evolves (and trust deepens), we can venture further and deeper into your questions, and facilitate lasting growth and change.

We start with a discovery call (60-90 minutes) to learn about you – your hopes, your fears, your stuck places, your visions, your values, etc. We clarify what you hope to gain from coaching. We answer any questions, and we can talk about the logistics. We come up with a plan for how we would like to work together, and we agree on what we are committing to.

From there, we meet on a regular basis for 60-minute coaching sessions (ideally once every 2 weeks), and this is where the magic happens!

You are in the pilot seat of this partnership, and I am your co-pilot. You tell us where you want to go, and I help to guide you through this territory. I can hold space, witness you, and reflect back what I see. You might be a new pilot, but I have been a co-pilot for years.

Another metaphor: two climbers, taking on a mountain face. From where you are, you may not be able to see the next hold. From my wider perspective, I can see things that you cannot. I can point out the next hold, that you might not be able to see. Maybe I’ve even climbed this mountain before. What if you put your foot there, and reached for that next grip? I can remind you of your strength and skill, and support you as you reach further and climb higher than you might have done alone.

What happens in a coaching session?

At the beginning of each session, we come to an “agreement” – what you hope for yourself in this session (e.g. what you want to explore, to uncover, to overcome, to feel, to learn, to accomplish, etc.), and why that is important to you. We hold this in the context of your overall wish for the coaching engagement, but each session will have its own focus and flavour. No two sessions are the same. Each individual session becomes a puzzle piece, and after enough sessions we start to put the pieces together and see a larger picture.

You bring the topic, and I bring my presence. You bring the story, and I bring the questions. You bring yourself, and I bring the mirror. If you’re not having fun, we’re doing something wrong.

How is coaching different from therapy?

There can often be a lot of overlap between therapy and coaching, and both modalities can facilitate profound internal shifts. Working 1:1 with a therapist or coach, both professionals aim to create a sense of psychological safety, and a space where you feel comfortable to lean in to the relationship and explore your inner world. I’ve worked with both therapists and coaches in my personal and professional life, and have found great benefit from each encounter. Different seasons of our lives, and different circumstances, may call for a different approach.

In therapy, you may work with your therapist to diagnose and treat specific mental health conditions. You may explore your childhood, your upbringing, or your past traumas, with the intention of healing old wounds and rewriting old patterns. Therapists will often use specific therapeutic modalities to facilitate growth and healing, and treat mental health symptoms.

The big difference between therapy and coaching is that in coaching we do not treat mental health conditions. If you are struggling with your mental health, you would likely be best served working with a therapist. While therapy may delve into your past, coaching tends to focus on the present and the future. In coaching, we aim to identify and close the gap between where you are now, and where you want to be.

How much does it cost?

1. Meet and Greet (15 minutes) is free.
This can be a video or phone call, to see if we might be a good fit.

2. My rate per individual session is 200$ (plus applicable taxes) per 60 minutes.

3. An introductory coaching package is 1400$ (plus applicable taxes). Spanning 2-3 months, this includes:
– 1 x 90 minute Discovery call
– 6 x 60 minute Coaching sessions
– 1 x 30 minute Wrap-up call
– Including: Email check-in’s, worksheets, session summaries

4. Should you wish to continue beyond the initial 6 sessions, you can choose to go ahead with individual sessions at an hourly rate, or commit to an additional 6 sessions for 1050$ (plus applicable taxes).

What’s the commitment?

You can commit as much or as little of your energy and time as you are able, but ultimately the more you put in, the more you will get out.

I usually recommend scheduling coaching sessions at lease every 2 weeks, to keep the energy and momentum alive. Weekly is also possible if you feel so inspired, and this can lead to more rapid transformation if you have the capacity and space in your life.

I don’t “assign homework”, but at the end of each session I will invite you to make a commitment to yourself, to expand upon your learning from that session. You choose what this looks like. I can support by offering: journal prompts, worksheets, practices, meditations, book recommendations, etc. that may be of benefit – and only if you want! You get to choose what you commit to, and how you would like to be supported and held accountable by me.
