My name is Jen Jeans (they/them). I live as an uninvited settler in the unceded territory of the Quw’utsun People (Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island, BC). You can usually find me hiking with my dog (River) and my partner (Steph) in the old growth forest, reading a book on a beach, diving/ snorkelling/ swimming in the ocean, or laying out on a blanket beneath a sky full of stars.
I love to connect with humans on a deep and intimate level. In my work, I walk alongside you as we co-create spaces that can hold the fullness of our humanity… spaces where your own inner wisdom and knowing can naturally emerge. My approach is based in Deep Presence, as we work to dismantle the inner structures and systems that are no longer serving us.
I am a Certified Executive Coach through Royal Roads University, and have my Associate Certified Coach (ACC) designation with the International Coaching Federation (ICF). I have a special interest in working with people who are undergoing periods of transition and transformation. I am drawn to those moments of life when people’s usual identities no longer seem to work, and something new and unknown is waiting to be born. Together, we can explore the existential aspects of this human life, including topics such as: purpose, meaning, authenticity, values, morality, mortality, life and death.
Alongside coaching, I work as a family physician with a focused practice in leading group medical visits for mental health and wellbeing. I work with organizations such as Mind Space, BCALM, and SATA, and facilitate groups that focus on improving quality of life for folks living with: anxiety, depression, insomnia, stress-related conditions, cognitive impairment, and terminal illness. My years as a physician have shaped my capacity to sit with suffering and ambiguity, with compassion and reverence.
My own healing journey has included deep personal exploration over many years of therapy, meditation, group work, retreats, somatics, and psychedelics. I am continually humbled by the expansive and unknowable capacity of the human spirit and the Great Mystery of this life.
Writing helps to keeps me grounded, and I will occasionally share my musings in the blog attached to this site. I also bring my poet-self into my coaching and my group work, leaning heavily on creativity and metaphor to explore ideas that often feel bigger than words alone.
